Portsmouth Special Education Local Advisory Committee

The Portsmouth Special Education Local Advisory Committee (PSELAC) is a group composed of people involved in or concerned with the education of students with disabilities who are eligible for special education and/or related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

  The purpose of the Local Advisory Committee is to:

  1. Advise the school district on matters concerning the unmet needs of students with disabilities

  2. Comment on improvement plans, including school support plans resulting from Part B compliance, and local compliance with state and federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities

  3. Comment on applications for federal and state funds

  4. Serve as advocates in partnership with parents for students with disabilities to ensure that they receive the entitlements provided to them under state and federal laws
