Support Staff Retirement
Are you thinking of retiring? Follow these steps:
Carefully review the Council 94 Contract and the applicable plan document below.
Contact HR at aguiark@portsmouthschoolsri.org or 683.2257 ext. 1012 to schedule a meeting or a call.
If you are a Town Pension participant, HR will provide you with an ESTIMATE of your pension benefit. HR will only notify the Town of your retirement after your official irrevocable notice of retirement is received. You will then connect with the Town to schedule a meeting regarding your pension benefit.
An official notice of intent to retire must be provided to the Superintendent. This notice must include the effective date of retirement and an original signature. Letters can be dropped off at the Administration Building, mailed or emailed.

What is a plan document?
The Internal Revenue Service requires that all retirement plans be documented in a written plan document. The document describes the provisions of the plan, and its structure must meet IRS guidelines regarding the terms and conditions for tax-qualified plans.
