The Preschool Program at Melville Elementary School is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Portsmouth RI School District's preschool program is located at Melville School. In our classroom, children with and without disabilities can learn and grow together in a high-quality, stimulating, and nurturing environment.
Our classrooms are open to preschool children aged three through five (who are not eligible for K). All children must be residents of Portsmouth, RI, and must meet all registration requirements with the Portsmouth School Department. We require all community partner applicants to participate in our Child Outreach Screening process before being considered for our program. Please visit our child outreach webpage to schedule your childʼs screening appointment. Bus transportation is not provided for community partners.
We have the following sessions open for the 2025-2026 SY. Offerings and session times are subject to change.
Four mornings per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday, 9:00 to 11:15
Four afternoons per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 12:30 to 2:50
***No school on Wednesdays
